If you are involved in court action you may have to pay a range of fees. If you are successful most of your costs will usually be paid by the other side.

However, if you fail you will usually have to pay your fees and the other side's fees unless you are using the small claims system or are receiving legal aid.

Legal aid pays for a solicitor. You can get legal aid to pay for legal advice and assistance in civil cases and criminal cases. More arrow
