The Housing Executive can give you a maximum of 30 points if you have support or care needs. Although the Housing Executive assesses every applicant, you will only get the points if you have applied for supported or sheltered accommodation.
If you have stated you would accept general housing as a second choice you will not get the points for your support or care needs.
How the Housing Executive assesses your social or care needs
The Housing Executive assesses how much help you need to take care of yourself and your home. For example, if you can cook your own meals or get dressed by yourself.
The Housing Executive scoring system is available in full in 'Support Care Needs Matrix'.

What will the Housing Executive ask?
The Housing Executive will ask you for details about the care you receive. For example, the Housing Executive will ask you:
- your carer's name,
- type of support or care they provide,
- if you need the same type of support all the time,
- how regularly your support needs vary.
If the Housing Executive thinks your accommodation is unreasonable it should investigate your circumstances before deciding if you are legally homeless.
Get advice if you think the Housing Executive has not assessed your application correctly. Advice is available from Housing Rights Service. Back to top
