Finding a safe and suitable place to live in is a daunting task, even under normal circumstances. For that reason, many people rely on the housing support and services available on the outside.

While in prison, your access to these services may be restricted and you may feel that you lack information or knowledge to tackle your housing problem. You may need to rely on the support network available within your prison to help you with your housing arrangements.

Advice and assistance within prisons is available from:

If you have somebody on the outside to act on your behalf, they can get additional support from a range of advice organisations and other voluntary bodies. Speaking to an adviser may make a difference between having a place to live in and sleeping on the streets.

Get advice as early as you can and keep on top of your housing situation.
