The Housing Executive targets grant aid at improving standards in properties which are in the worst condition. You are more likely to get a grant if your home is unfit for human habitation.
Your home would be considered unfit for human habitation if:
- it has a sagging roof
- it has bulging walls
- it has rising damp
- there is a lack of natural light in the living room
- there is no running water.
You may still be eligible for a grant if your home isn't unfit for human habitation but it depends on:
Due to a funding shortfall, the Housing Executive is currently prioritising grants awards. This means that some grants may be generally unavailable until further funds are secured.
The Housing Executive may not agree to accept any new preliminary enquiries while their grants programme is affected by the funding shortfall.
