You won't have to pay for the adaptations if you are a Housing Executive or housing association tenant. You may have to pay if you own your home or rent from a private landlord.

Housing Executive and housing association tenants

You won't have to pay for the adaptation if you rent from the Housing Executive or a housing association. Your rent usually won't be increased unless the adaptation includes a lot of building work.

You can get more information on adaptations from your local Housing Executive District Office or your housing association .

Home owners and private tenants

Social services may be able to provide minor works and lifts free of charge. If social services won't carry out the work you may get a grant from the Housing Executive to help cover the cost of the work.

The amount you will have to pay depends on how much work needs to be carried out and your income.
