Moving to other accommodation Print E-mail

Moving to new accommodation may be the best option. However you should always get advice from a local advice agency . An adviser can go through your options and tell you the best course of action.

  • you can't improve or adapt your home
  • the conditions in your home are so bad that they are affecting your health or the health of someone you live with
  • your home is severely overcrowded

If you are a Housing Executive or housing association tenant, you can ask to transfer to another property.

Private tenants can apply for a Housing Executive or housing association accommodation using the selection scheme.

If you have somewhere to live but it is not suitable, you may be able to get help from the Housing Executive as a homeless person. This is particularly the case if the condition of your home means that it is not reasonable for you to live there.

Older people or people with a disability who can no longer manage in their own home may benefit from housing with extra support, such as sheltered housing.
