Your Tenant's Handbook outlines who is responsible for carrying out certain types of repair. Contact your local Housing Executive District Office if you don't have a Tenant's Handbook or you are unsure whether or not the Housing Executive should carry out the repairs.

Responsibility for repairs

Your tenancy agreement outlines what type of repairs the Housing Executive must carry out. You will usually have to repair damage that you have caused. More arrow

Getting repairs carried out

Contact your local Housing Executive District Office if you need repairs carried out. The Housing Executive prioritises repair work depending on its urgency. More arrow

Right to repair scheme

The right to repair scheme ensures that you have emergency or urgent repairs costing under £250 completed quickly. More arrow

Self help scheme

The Housing Executive runs a self help scheme to allow you to carry out minor repairs and claim back the cost. You can only claim for certain types of repair costing under £200. More arrow

Redecoration payments

You may get an allowance from the Housing Executive if your home has been damaged during a repair or renovation. More arrow

Improvement schemes

The Housing Executive carries out improvement schemes to maintain properties in good repair and modernise older houses. You may get compensation if you are disturbed during the improvements. More arrow

Unhappy with the repairs

Use the Housing Executive's complaints procedure if the Housing Executive won't carry out repairs or you are unhappy with the standard of work carried out. More arrow
