How do I use the self help scheme?
You must ask the Housing Executive for permission to carry out the repairs. The Housing Executive will examine your accommodation before deciding whether the repair is necessary.
The Housing Executive will give you an estimate of how much money you will get to pay for the repair. The Housing Executive won't give you any help if the repair is your responsibility.

What happens next?
The Housing Executive will send you a Repair Request Form. You can start the repair as soon as you sign and return this form to the Housing Executive District Office .
You must tell the Housing Executive when you have finished the repairs. The Housing Executive will inspect the repair. If the work is approved you will be given a cheque.
If you owe the Housing Executive rent, the payment will be offset against the amount you owe. Back to top
